The warming waters of the Tampa - Saint Petersburg area welcome the arrival of the sardines. Freshly frozen and cut sardines are nearly irresistable to all fish. Cobia cruise the nearshore and bay channel markers and tarpon school in the passes. Inshore, smaller mangrove snapper start to appear near the bridges, reefs and piers. Present a pass crab to a tarpon and hold on, you will be in for the fight of your life. Ever opportunistic sharks area are active both inshore and offshore.
The weather this time of year is warm with occasions scattered rain showers mixed with lots of sunshine. Winds and generally calm with an occasional front stirring things for a day or so.
